Experts from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras have launched technical surveys, including shoreline and bathymetric surveys, for a protection wall proposed to be built with ₹323 crore along the Uppada coast in Kakinada district.
Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Environment and Forest K. Pawan Kalyan stated in a release that the IIT Madras experts are engaged in the technical studies and surveys of the Uppada coast for the proposed sea protection wall.
“The ongoing studies and surveys are part of preparing a Detailed Project Report before obtaining environmental clearance from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change for the construction of the sea protection wall,” Mr.
Pawan Kalyan said. The National Disaster Management Authority has granted ₹323 crore from the National Disaster Management Fund for the sea protection wall.
