Department of Transport Secretary and Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Kona Sasidhar on Saturday directed officials to accord top priority to quality maintenance of buses, fleet availability, efficient utilisation of resources, expenditure control and revenue enhancement.
Addressing a review meeting with executive directors and heads of departments at RTC House, Mr. Sasidhar called for regular assessment of passenger facilities and services at bus stations and corrective measures to make them more convenient and passenger-friendly.
He stressed that employee welfare should receive equal attention. Officials made presentations on the activities, performance, statistics, progress, revenue sources and other operational and administrative matters of their respective departments.
The new MD directed officials to focus on the effective implementation of the Stree Shakti scheme, a key component of the Super Six programme, and ensure that women passengers faced no inconvenience during their journeys.
He called for strengthening field-level arrangements to provide women with safe, smooth and comfortable travel. He also reviewed the implementation of the Divyanga Shakti schemeand instructed officials to ensure that its benefits reached all eligible passengers.
Mr. Sasidhar emphasised the need for close coordination among departments, prompt identification of field-level issues and timely resolution of problems. He urged officers and employees to work collectively to achieve the corporation’s targets.
He further directed officials to adopt a comprehensive approach to improving APSRTC’s overall performance, enhancing passenger satisfaction, increasing revenue, controlling expenditure and safeguarding employee welfare. Joint Managing Director M.
