APTF temporarily suspends protest after Chief Minister’s assurance on TET

The Andhra Pradesh Teachers Federation (APTF) has temporarily suspended its indefinite dharna over the Special TET issue following an assurance from Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu that the concerns of in-service teachers would be examined and steps taken to ensure that they do not face difficulties.

The protesting teachers ended their agitation after APJAC chairman A. Vidya Sagar informed them that the Chief Minister had assured him that the Special TET issue would be examined and justice ensured to all in-service teachers.

Mr. Vidya Sagar said that discussions held with employee associations on Saturday (September 5, 2026) had resulted in positive responses to several financial and service-related issues, including two pending Dearness Allowances (DAs), appointment of the chairman of the 12th Pay Revision Commission and other demands.

He said APTF and other teachers’ organisations had brought their concerns over the Special TET to the Chief Minister’s notice and the latter assured them that the issues would be examined and appropriate steps taken. APTF State president Chennupati Manjula, general secretary K.

Basavalinga Raju and former general secretary P. Panduranga Varaprasad Rao urged the government to respond positively to the legitimate demands raised by the federation and remove the anxiety prevailing among teachers. They said teachers should remain vigilant and urged the government to incorporate the amendments suggested by APTF, obtaining NCTE approval wherever necessary.

They also suggested that, since education was on the Concurrent List, the State government should pass a resolution in the Assembly and forward it to the Centre. They clarified that the indefinite dharna was being temporarily suspended following the Chief Minister’s assurance.
