Comprehensive News & Policy Report

The Uttar Pradesh Dairy Department has sent grant amount of more than ₹11 crore to the bank accounts of about 1,200 beneficiaries of Jhansi, Kanpur and Chitrakoot Dham divisions through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), the State government said on Monday (September 14, 2026).

A dairy conclave of the three divisions was held in Jhansi on September 11, 2026, with theme of women participation and entrepreneurship in dairy development and contribution to dairy economy. The objective of the conclave was to disseminate the advantages of various public welfare initiatives to eligible beneficiaries and promote rural economy.

During the conclave, a fund of ₹13.5 crore was released under the 2022 Milk Policy for various projects in these areas. About 22 new multipurpose milk cooperatives were handed official registration certificates after their formation, Dhanalakshmi K., Uttar Pradesh Dairy Commissioner, told The Hindu.

“The biggest feature of this congregation was the economic cooperation on the ground. Through the ‘Nand Baba Milk Mission’, a grant amount of more than Rs 11 crore was sent directly to the bank accounts of about 1,200 beneficiaries of Jhansi, Kanpur and Chitrakoot Dham divisions through DBT.

Also, under the state’s new milk policy, a fund of Rs 13.5 crore was released for various projects in these areas. More than 70% participants in Jhansi conclave were women,” Ms. Dhanalakshmi said. “After the historic success in Meerut, Agra and Bareilly, the immense enthusiasm of more than 1,000 cattle rearers, farmers and new entrepreneurs gathered in Bundelkhand proved that indigenous cow rearing and milk production in the state has now become a means of a major economic change, not just livelihood,” she added.

Speaking about other initiatives during the conclave, Ms. Dhanalakshmi, the 2000-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the Uttar Pradesh cadre, added: “Apart from this, live demonstrations of modern dairy equipment and services were performed at the stalls of leading institutions such as Parag, Balini, Namaste India, Bhole Baba and Samarthya and Indian Bank.

Thousands of farmers from every corner of the state directly benefited from the event by connecting through the digital medium (YouTube and webcast).” Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister Dharm Pal Singh was present at the conclave.
