KCR to skip Assembly, take fight to people

Chandrasekhar Rao is set to take his party’s battle against the Congress government beyond the Assembly, with plans for a major public mobilisation over the alleged neglect of irrigation projects and farmers’ issues.

At a meeting of the BRS Legislature Party (BRSLP) at his Erravelli farmhouse in Gajwel, Siddipet district, on Sunday, Mr. Rao described the Congress government’s nearly 1,000-day rule as a ‘disaster’ and an “utter flop”, according to party sources.

He directed BRS legislators to aggressively raise irrigation and other public issues during the Assembly session beginning on Monday. KCR accused the government of deliberately denying irrigation water to farmers and neglecting the Kaleshwaram project for political reasons.

He asked the legislators to raise the issue of State’s share of Krishna and Godavari water and other irrigation-related matters, and actively participate in debates to question the government and highlight its alleged failures.

Sources said Mr. Rao also discussed the proposed delimitation of Assembly constituencies and asked party legislators to prepare for the likely changes. Speaking to the media after the meeting, party Deputy Floor Leader in the Assembly T.

Harish Rao said the BRS would raise issues concerning farmers, students, employees and other sections, besides intensifying its campaign outside the legislature. Mr. Harish Rao said, “KCR will personally lead a major public movement with lakhs of people, against the government’s neglect of these projects, after the Assembly session.

Leaders such as NTR, Jayalalithaa and Chandrababu Naidu faced disrespect in the Assembly, took their fight to people and returned to power.” BRS would also raise issues relating to agricultural lands being placed on the 22A prohibited list, power cuts affecting farmers, alleged failure of farm loan waiver scheme, polytechnic colleges under GO 97, problems in SCCL, implementation of Pay Revision Commission (PRC) and payment of Dearness Allowance, the Employees Health Scheme and pending fee reimbursement, he said.
