Missing couple found dead in Bijnor; man tied to a tree in wife’s clothes

Bijnor police announced on Tuesday that the bodies of Chottu and his wife Sushma, residents of Jalalpur, were recovered from two separate locations in the Kotwali City area. The discovery follows a missing‑person report filed by their son after the couple failed to return from their field on Monday.

Investigators found Sushma's partially clothed body on the banks of the Ganga, about 50 metres from their field, with visible neck injuries. Approximately one kilometre away, Chottu's body was located hanging from a tree, bound with wire and dressed in his wife's salwar. The Superintendent of Police, Krishan Kumar, confirmed that both bodies have been sent for post‑mortem examination and that a forensic team and a police dog squad were deployed to the scene.

The couple had gone to work in their agricultural plot on Monday morning and did not return, prompting their son to search the nearby forest before alerting authorities. Local residents and forest officials assisted in the search, which was temporarily halted due to rain. The incident has raised concerns among the community, and investigators are continuing to probe the circumstances and possible motive behind the deaths.
