Minister of Forest, Ecology and Environment and MLA of BTM Assembly constituency Ramalinga Reddy has written to Bengaluru Metropolitan Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) asking them to change the names of three metro stations in the constituency.
He has urged the corporation to change the names of the metro stations so that it would reflect the names of localities known to the residents. He has proposed to change the name of JP Nagar 4th Phase Metro Station to N.S.
Palya Metro Station, Tavarekere Metro Station to S.G. Palya Metro Station, Dairy Circle Metro Station to Lakkasandra Metro Station. The Minister said that changing the names of these stations to local names of the areas would help commuters travel with ease particularly those who are unfamiliar with the locations, and it would reflect the culture of the place.
In the letter, he stated that the BMRCL, before changing the names of stations, must also consult with the residents, other local leaders and various stakeholders and take their advice.
