Comprehensive News & Policy Report

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday announced ₹70,000-crore investment by the Tata Group, TCS and HyperVault in Telangana that would create the largest data centre in the country creating direct employment to 7,000 people.

The Chief Minister also set a deadline of June 2, 2028, the Telangana Formation Day, for the inauguration of what he described as India’s largest AI data centre. “From groundbreaking to inauguration, exactly 21 months from today, on June 2, 2028, we want to inaugurate India’s largest AI data centre,” he said.

That is why the government had refrained from announcing the investment until the Tata Group formally made the announcement. The project would constitute one of the largest investments in artificial intelligence and Future City.

As per the announcement, the TCS data centre subsidiary HyperVault will develop a large-scale artificial intelligence (AI) data centre campus with capacity of up to 1 gigawatt (GW). The Chief Minister also sought to assure investors that Telangana would maintain continuity in its investment policies despite changes in governments.

He referred to the policy continuity under successive governments in undivided Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and said governments had improved existing policies rather than abandoning them. “There is no policy paralysis in my State.

I don’t want to create any confusion. I want to give you more and more confidence and political differences and ideological differences will not affect the investments policy,” he said. Mr. Reddy said the 50-km Radial Road-1, connecting the Outer Ring Road with Future City through Kongara Kalan, would be among the best roads in India and could even be used as an emergency runway.

He said the road had been dedicated to Bharat Ratna award winner Ratan Tata and recalled his announcement at the Telangana Rising Global Summit that the road would be dedicated to an organisation investing ₹1 lakh crore in the State.

CEO and Managing Director of TCS K Krithivasan said AI was not a technology disruption but a civilisational shift. It will change everything we do today and those societies that trasition would be at the forefront and India had a great opportunity to catch up.

CTO of OpenAI Uday Rudraraju addressed the meeting virrtually. K Rajanna, president of TCS HyperVault and CEO of Hypervault Deepesh Nanda were present along with IT Minister D Sridhar Babu, Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Komatireddy Venkata Reddy and Adluri Lakshman Kumar.
