The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad announced the start of an Applied AI Professional Certification Programme targeted at working professionals seeking practical expertise in artificial‑intelligence applications. The initiative is being led by faculty members Dr Praveen Tammana, Dr Ashish Mishra and Dr Anupam Sanghi from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, together with AI Solution Architect N V S S Koundinya.
The inaugural September 2026 cohort runs from 19 September to 17 October and follows a hybrid delivery model, with instructor‑led sessions held on Saturdays either on the IIT Hyderabad campus or via an online platform. Over the four‑week period, participants will engage in guided online learning, assignments, and a continuous project that culminates in a production‑style AI agent application, covering topics such as Retrieval‑Augmented Generation, multi‑agent orchestration, evaluation, observability and deployment. Successful candidates will receive an IIT Hyderabad Professional Certificate.
The programme responds to growing demand for AI talent in industry, offering a concise, practice‑oriented alternative to longer academic degrees. By focusing on a ‘learn, apply and build’ methodology, it aims to upskill engineers, data scientists and other professionals who need to integrate AI solutions into real‑world workflows. The certification is expected to enhance employability and support the broader ecosystem of AI innovation in India.
